Details
This Royal Albert Bone China Gossamer Tea Set is from the mid 20th Century.
The Tea Cup, Saucer and Tea Plates are made up of 6 marbled effect colours, the Tea Cups being on gilt stands with angular gilt handles. The set comes with a Sandwich/Cake Platter and Milk and Sugar Bowl. A Teapot for this set was never produced.
There is slight wear to the gilt on some of the tea cup handles and the sugar bowl has a slight blemish on the rim which can be seen in the pictures. However, the set is in good condition for its age.
Royal Albert china dates back to 1896, when Thomas Wild of T.C Wild & Sons moved his china production to the Albert China Works in Stoke-on-Trent. The factory was not named after Queen Victoria's consort, as is often assumed, but for the Prince who later became King George VI - the father of Queen Elizabeth II.
The Royal Albert collection is currently produced by Wedgwood, a company located at Stoke-on-Trent in the United Kingdom, and is a trusted manufacturer of English tea and dinnerware made of fine bone china, porcelain, and ceramic.
